Durham city centre

We just got back having spent a few days in Durham, staying with family.

Market Place is the focal point of the city. It has medieval origins even though most of it is of Victorian origin now. Its most imposing features are the town hall and the Guildhall and the city church of St Nicholas.

There are some very nice buildings here

 interesting, narrow lanes

narrow, quirky houses

and it's always very busy.

  1. Durham is probably my favourite UK cathedral. It's many years since I was in the city.

    1. It's a wonderful cathedral indeed, Olga. Unfortunately, we did not get the time to go inside this time, but there will be other times. I like the city too.
