I am fascinated by herons and seeing one always makes my day. So it was with great pleasure that we spotted one when we were sitting in Edem the other day. But, even though it was as statuesque, stately and elegant as all the other herons I have seen this one was different. It was all white, and much smaller. I looked it up on the internet when we got home and I think it might be a little egret, but I am not sure.
The other thing that was different about it that it was constantly on the move, almost manically so. I am used to seeing herons standing still for hours and hours.
Anyway, whatever species it is, it was such a pleasure seeing it.

There are said to be herons in Australia, but I have never seen one. They must live in wetlands somewhere.
ReplyDeleteThey are gorgeous birds. I hope you'll see one, one day. We tend to see them in the park in the UK, by the river. And in Greece, the river again, near where we live. A real pleasure.
