Manchester Cathedral

Manchester Cathedral on Victoria Street.

The medieval church was extensively refaced, restored and extended in the Victorian period, and again following bomb damage in the 20th century.

We had two full days in Manchester, so not much time to explore so we did not spend as much time as we would have liked here.

Very unusual lighting inside the Cathedral

and it was certainly atmospheric

There was a music rehearsal going on

All the Victorian stained glass was destroyed during the Manchester Blitz in 1940

and had to be replaced, a process that took a long time.

It's very beautiful
