Mayfair snapshots

The main purpose of our visit to London last week was to visit the Royal Academy. We did however manage to walk around Mayfair for a bit, as well having

lunch at Le Richoux, our favourite place when we visit the Royal Academy as it's across the road, and the food is good.

We were surprised to see that the place has had a make-over. It still retains its Art Nouveau feel but green dominates now (as opposed to red) and the whole place has a fresher feel

and a new bar

Some of the Christmas decorations are already in place

The Lynn Chadwick sculpture at Fortnum and Mason's still gives me pleasure

looking closer.

We were fortunate to see two more of Chadwick's sculptures during our visit. This one, Teddy Boy and Girl is exhibited at the Royal Academy

while this one, Winged Figures, Version I, is on show at Marlborough Fine Art, on Albermarle Street.

We walked through the Burlington Arcade

and then stopped at Carpo,

to drool over their chocolates and nuts.

It's one of our favourite shops on Piccadilly

Regent Street looked, as always, magnificent.
