It was my namesday, we had no workers in the house and the day was gorgeous, a real summer's day, so we decided to go to Broadway and have a relaxing day. First stop, Russell's for lunch. We were fortunate to get a table outside so while we had a delicious meal, we were able to watch the world go by.
I always think of Broadway as one of the sleepy Cotswold villages, unlike Burton-on-the Water or Stow-on-the-Wold, but on that day, due to the weather, there were lots of people about, enjoying the sunshine, just as we were.
The honey-coloured stone of the buildings shone and sparkled in the sunshine
and the wisteria was just starting to bloom.
All the houses are immaculately kept
while the green in the middle of the main street gives the village its open and airy feel
the chestnut trees in full bloom
This was the only building we came across that was not immaculately kept - it's up for sale, so I have no doubt that the new owners will restore it to the standard of the rest
a gorgeous front door to a quaint cottage
one of the few houses that is rendered
a few of the roofs are thatched

the village deli, one of the best delis I have come across
enjoying some shade
more wisteria.
