Modern Greek art: Places and Spaces

Modern Greek Art: Places and Spaces -  the Bank of Greece Art Collection at the Theocharakis Museum, Athens.

The Bank of Greece art collection spans almost 100 years. The exhibition is organised in three sections, 'Places and Spaces', 'Myths and People' and 'The Dynamics of Ellipsis'.

Places and Spaces:

Landscape tradition has evolved through the human gaze and the ideological construction of places and their features: myths, memories, behaviours and the dominant views of each era  have been instrumental in this.  This section highlights the interests of different artists and their take on landscape - not only of natural, but also urban landscape.
