Grand Central Terminal

The Grand Central Terminal, constructed in 1913, is so much more than just a train station

it is massive - the main concourse is 470ft long and 150ft high

the barrel-vaulted ceiling is speckled like a Baroque church with a painted representation of the winter night sky, its 2500 stars shown back to front

everything here is built on a grand scale

walking round the marble corridors

looking up

there are fifty shops, including the Grand Central Market, which sells every gourmet food imaginable

 the ceiling by the entrance

there are also more than thirty restaurants, including the Grand Central Oyster Bar which is located in the vaulted bowels of the station

and is one of the city's most celebrated seafood spots.

Finally, one of the platforms.
