Another Gormley!
We visit Oxford often as it's only one hour's drive from where we live. And yet I had never noticed the sculpture by Anthony Gormley standing on the roof of Blackwell's before. It was only when I saw it here that I looked out for it last time we visited Oxford.
Seeing the sculpture reminded me of the Gormley exhibition at the Hayward in 2007 which I enjoyed ever so much. As part of that exhibition 31 sculptural casts of Gormley's body were placed on rooftops and public walkways all around central London. It was a magnificent event.
It was a real delight seeing this one, and I will revisit it often.

Thank you for pointing that out. I have not been to Oxford for a while, but I had no idea that this was there. I must keep an eye open next time.
ReplyDeleteThere you go - at least two of us who did not know it was there... It seems such a waste, but I have to admit that I felt real excitement when I finally found it.
