Eleni Stathopoulou, The Geometry of Colour - portraits, nudes and more
at the Niarchos Cultural Centre, Athens.
Like so many women artists, Stathopoulou has been written out of official art history. This exhibition is an attempt to re-acquaint people with her work. Stathopoulou is one of the pioneers of abstract art in Greece. During the early post-war decades she contributed to the shift of contemporary Greek art towards abstraction and to a more direct connection between Greek visual artists and the international avant-garde.
Seeing her work was a pleasure.
