We arrived in Greece three days ago. The weather has been very mixed: there were horrendous floods from heavy rainfall 10 days ago, and even though this has abated, there was a storm and heavy rain two days ago. Consequently, the day after, when we went for a walk by the sea in Palaio Faliro, the air was so clear, we could see the island of Salamina across from the water.
This is such a pleasant walk
the sea, not as calm as usual
and the clouds were spectacular. Salamina and Piraeus in the distance.
it's all looking quite dramatic.
The chess players
a few winter swimmers
it's so beautiful
Selling his catch.
We got to the next section of our walk and discovered there is work going on - I think they are going to replace the pavement so that the whole of the Athens Riviera has a uniform seafront walk: the idea is that there is going to be a path all the way from Neo Faliro to Vouliagmeni, and maybe beyond? They have already done this in Glyfada, and they are in the process of changing the one in our area as well.
We arrived at the marina - lots of people sitting out
our destination: the sailing club, one of our favourite places for lunch. We don't like coming here in the evenings because it's always packed, but it's perfect for lunch
and this is our view.
When we had finished eating, we had a visitor who came to sample our crumbs
On the way back I could not help but marvel at how clear and how near us, because of the clarity, the mountain, Ymittos looked.
