Blenheim Palace - another visit

Yesterday was a gorgeous sunny day, so we thought we would spend it in the grounds of Blenheim Palace.

The Water Terrace was as calm and peaceful as ever

We took the path that runs alongside the lake - it was very hot so the shade was very welcome

Beautiful views on the way

we reached the boathouse

and then continued along the path

quite a few ducks and Canada geese in the water

and the reflections were mesmerising.

The shade was very welcome

and all alongside the path water lilies were just starting to come up

in a week's time when they have all come up they will look absolutely spectacular

looking closer

it's quite a long walk as this lake is massive

we reached the end of the path, this bridge on our right

and the Grand Cascade on our left

a lone swan

this is a circular path and we eventually reached the rose garden

a profusion of roses

and the scent was heavenly

The new, just opened, Winston Churchill memorial garden

and we had come full circle. We sat here in the Water Terrace

for our lunch

which we enjoyed very much.

We then started on our second walk of the day - this is the South Lawn

and eventually we entered the Secret Garden

which is one of the nicest gardens I have ever seen.

Tai Chi while the woman's friends looked on

lots of little ponds in this garden

and little streams that meander through

Hostas in the front and water lilies in the pond

we then returned to the South Lawn and reached this fountain before turning back and heading back home.
