Deer at Charlecote Park

I always hope we sill see some deer when we go to Charlecote for a walk, and last week I was not disappointed, we saw three different lots.

The first group were by the river

We then went over the bridge and walked over to the western part of the grounds - the bottom of the foliage of these trees is so straight because this is as far up as the deer can reach when they reach up to eat the leaves

We soon saw a second herd, a mixed group, females, males and young ones

they soon became very aware of us,

and when I started approaching, as quietly and unthreatingly as I could, they started moving off - we reckon that it's because they had the young they felt they had to protect

Ah! So cute.

We saw the third lot about an hour later on the other side of the grounds - they were all male and they did not care whether we were there or not

they continued doing their business, totally ignoring us

and I was able to get very close and have prolonged eye-contact

or, in some cases, ignored.
