Christina Papavassiliou at the Frisiras Museum

I have been, over the years, a fan of the Frissiras Museum and the exhibitions they stage. The latest  exhibition however, is the worst I have seen, ever, anywhere.  Devoted to the female nude, it's full of paintings that are cheap, nasty, ugly, and frankly, pornography of the worst kind. My aesthetic, ethical and political sensibilities were offended and I left as soon as I had walked quickly through all the galleries. In the midst of all this horror was this gem:

by Christina Papavassiliou.

I had not seen any of work since 1992, and the pleasure of seeing this, almost made up the horror of the rest of the exhibition. You can see more of her work and the story of this artist's output here
