Afflecks, Manchester

Affleck's, situated in the Northern Quarter is an indoor market. The building was once home to Affleck & Brown, one of the city's principal department stores. Now the building houses around 80 independent stalls, small shops and boutiques that operate in the one building: alternative clothing, records, retro game shops, second hand dealers, tatoo parlours, cafes and lots more.

All the units are fully let and attract an average of 24,000 shoppers every week, including 700 on Saturdays. It is a testament to the large 'alternative' lifestyles that exist in Manchester.

We really enjoyed walking around and looking at everything that's on offer.

I've been looking for some balls for my earrings for ages, but they don't make them as big anymore. I was directed here, and, I got some!

Smoking paraphernalia

Some nice and unusual posters here
